Caelum Quirk, an English teacher at Columbine High School, is out of town when the massacre occurs. Nevertheless, his life is forever changed. An unrelentingly sad saga, reaching back to the Civil War and forward to the current day war on terror.

The Penalty Killing -- Michael McKinley

Martin Carter, a hockey superstar cut down in the prime of his career, now works in the front office of his old team, the New York St. Patricks. He becomes the prime suspect in the murder of two individuals, and sets out to clear his name and solve the crimes. The backdrop of the action is the playoff season

of the fictionalized Contential Hockey League, with action in New York, Toronto and Vancouver.
